PURPOSE:To enable contact with a buried diffused layer to be taken on an element surface by a method wherein a groove is formed in the side surface of an epitaxial grown layer on a single crystal layer of one conductivity type, its surface being then exposed; and a contact region is formed by burying a layer of one conductivity type in the groove. CONSTITUTION:The double-layer structure of an N<+> Si single crystal layer 15 and an Si epitaxial layer 16 is formed by being surrounded with an SiO2 film 12b in the element-forming region. Next, in order to form the groove taking contact with the layer 15, first a resist film is formed by coating over the entire surface and then patterned, thus forming an etching mask 17. キシャル層I6を薄く形成するために、溝18の深さは
その分だけ小になり、そのことはポリシリコン層の成長
が容易になされる結果となる。
