Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent damage of a road surface and generation of dust, by providing a working member made of shape-memory alloy between both flanges of a spike pin and its guide pin, so as to vary an amount of projection of the spike pin by heat generated in a tire. CONSTITUTION:A working member 9 made of shape-memory alloy is provided between flanges 5 and 6. When a vehicle is running on a frozen road, a tire 1 is cold and the working member 9 is in plastic condition. Therefore, it is compressedly deformed by a biasing force of a spring 10 to move the flanges 5 and 6 away from each other, and is inserted between support surfaces 5a and 6a to maintain the spike pin 3 under a projected condition. On the other hand, when the vehicle is running on an unfrozen road, the working member 9 is heated by heat generated in the tire 1. As the working member 9 is made of shape-memory alloy, it is returned to its memorized shape and gets out of between the support surfaces 5a and 6a. Accordingly, the spike pin 3 is retracted into the tire 1. In this manner, the spike pin may be automatically projected and retracted in dependence upon a frozen condition of a road surface, thereby preventing damage of the road surface and generation of dust.

(2) In snow-covered areas like Hokkaido, most cars drive with spiked tires during the winter, but in recent years, advances in road snow removal and an increase in traffic have left roads exposed. As a result, the effective distance traveled by spiked tires has become extremely short. And it is estimated that only 5% of the total mileage is driven by spiked tires.

The present invention aims to prevent the destruction and abrasion of the road surface and the generation of dust caused by it by configuring the spike pins so that they can be stored inside the tire when they are not needed. Focusing on the fact that the heat generated changes depending on the frozen and snowy conditions of the road, its feature is that the protruding state of the spike pin can be automatically changed according to the frozen and snowy conditions of the road. be.

That is, the spiked tire of the present invention is provided with spike pins that are freely retractable on the ground contact surface of the tire body and guide pins that support and guide the spike pins. A flat support surface facing each other and a tapered guide surface connected to the support surface are formed on the flange portion, and the properties between these flange portions change between a warping state and a state of restoring to the memorized shape depending on the temperature. an operating position in which the actuating member made of a shape memory alloy is inserted between the support surfaces and holds the spike pin in a protruding state, and an inoperative position in which it escapes from between both support surfaces and holds the spike pin in a retracted state. The actuating member is disposed so as to be deformable, and is provided with a spring that deforms the actuating member to the actuating position or the non-actuating position in the erect state.

When driving on a frozen or snowy road using a spiked tire having the above configuration, as shown in Fig. 1, the operating member (2) becomes flexible due to cooling, so the spring [phase] The flange parts (1) and (2) are compressed and deformed by the urging force of (2), and the flanges (2) are separated, and the spike pin (2) is held between the supporting surface (phase) and O to hold the spike pin (2) in the inserted state. On the other hand, when driving on a road that is not frozen or covered with snow, the operating member ■ is heated mainly by the frictional heat between the road surface and the tires, so the operating member Resisting the biasing force of 0, the blade returns to the enlarged diameter state by itself and escapes from between the support (5) surface [phase] and O. Therefore, spike pin■
is held in a recessed state within the embedded hole (■) by the elastic restoring force of the tire body (■).

As described above, according to the present invention, the spike pins can be automatically made to appear and disappear depending on the frozen or snowy condition of the road, thereby ensuring safe driving in the frozen or snowy conditions, and at the same time ensuring that the road does not freeze or is covered with snow. It is possible to reliably prevent the destruction and wear of the road surface and the generation of dust associated with it when there is no snowfall. However, a shape-memory alloy actuating member is fitted into the flat supporting openings provided on the flanges of the spike pin and guide pin, and this holds the spike pin in its protruding state. The spike pin can be reliably supported even against the ground.
