Glycols such as diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (butyl calpitol) and ethylene glycol monobutyl ether (butyl cellosolve) are used as cleaning agents or glass cleaners to remove oil stains on ventilation fans, gas ranges, etc., as well as stains in bathrooms and toilets. Cleaning agents containing glycol ether esters such as ether J [lj diethylene glycol monoalkyl ether hexasonoacetate as a solvent (for example, see Japanese Patent Publication No. 50-40126) and polyoxyalkylene mono(or di)lower alkyl ether as a solvent. (for example, JP-A-54-1584)
08, JP-A-54-158409, etc.) are known. However, although the former glycol ether cleaning agent has good cleaning power, it has a strong solvent odor that causes discomfort during use, and the latter polyoxyalkylene ether cleaning agent has improved solvent odor. However, the cleaning power is not fully satisfied.

According to the present invention, compound (1) has extremely low odor, has extremely low toxicity, has good compatibility with water, and is itself a solvent with excellent dissolving power for oily substances and surfactants. It can be used as a cleaning agent alone or in the form of an aqueous solution mixed with water in any proportion. In general formula (1), 3-methoxy- where 1 (is a methyl group)
3-Methylbutanol derivatives are particularly preferred because they have excellent dissolving power for oily substances and surfactants. Compound (1)
The value of rn+n, which indicates the number of moles of ethylene oxide and/or propylene oxide added, is 1 to 5.
It is important that the If this value exceeds 5, the dissolving power and volatility will decrease, which is not preferable. Generally preferred values of m+n are within the range of 1-3. In addition, compound (1) is 021■40 and C3H6
If they contain hundreds of zeros, their arrangement may be arbitrary.

Examples of these are organic amines such as 7-, di-, or trialkanolamines and 7- or dialkyl alkanolamines, inorganic bases such as ammonia, caustic soda, and weak acid salts of inorganic bases such as sodium silicate and sodium carbonate. However, the former organic amine is preferable for use as a household cleaning agent. In addition, in the case of a cleaning agent for glass, etc., it is sufficient to add the organic amine mentioned above to the cleaning agent button of the present invention, and the surfactant may be added in a very small amount, for example, 1% by weight.
The following additions are sufficient.
