Abstract

PURPOSE:To cut a hollow planar body while hardly producing chips and hardly deforming the planar body, by arranging the edge of a metal rotating circular blade such that it bites a little into a resilient surface layer part of a rotating roll, and feeding a plastic hollow planar body between the edge and the rotating roll so that the planar body is cut. CONSTITUTION:The metal rotating circular blade 2 is arranged such that its edge bites 0.5-3mm. into the resilient surface layer part of the rotating roll 3, and the circumferential speed of the metal rotating circular blade 2 and the rotating roll 3 is set approximately equal to the plastic planar body feeding speed of the feeding roll 4. The plastic hollow planar body 8 is fed by the feeding roll 4 between the metal rotating circular blade 2 and the rotating roll 3 to be cut. In this arrangement, instead of the prior metal circular saw, the metal circular blade 2 is used, and since its edge bites slightly into the resilient surface layer part of the rotating roll 3, the cutting can smoothly be done with producing little chips.
