Abstract

PURPOSE:To form inexpensively excellent-looking transparent or ground-colored characters or patterns on the surface of a molded article, by transfering a masking agent directly to a resin molded article by a silk screen process and peeling the masked part after coating. CONSTITUTION:A silk screen is coated with a photographic emulsion and laminated on a positive film on which desired characters or patterns have been gotton. After exposure to light, the screen is washed with water to remove unexposed area corresponding to the characters or the figures to thereby obtain a printing plate. Then the silk screen is laminated on a synthetic resin molded article, to which is then transfered a masking agent which can be easily fixed to the resin, but easily peeled by the action of a slight external force and which is not attacked by thinner solvent. An example of the masking agent is an aliph. hydrocarbon solvent soln. of a synthetic rubber. After coating the whole of the molded article, a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is sticked on the masked part and the masking agent and the paint on the surface of the article are peeled off, whereby forming transparent or ground-colored characters or patterns on the surface of the molded article.

As is well known, the name and mark of the manufacturer, as well as the names, symbols, instructions, etc. of various switches and dials are displayed on the front panel of home appliances such as audio equipment and televisions. Conventionally, these displays were offset. This method is formed using printing methods such as printing, but since printing methods can only print flat objects, they cannot be directly applied to three-dimensional molded products such as front panels. The method used is to print letters, figures, etc., and attach them to the front panel, etc. However, the method described on page 3 et al. The disadvantage is that the aesthetic appearance is impaired.

Furthermore, when painting a three-dimensional molded product to form transparent windows or letters, conventionally there was no suitable masking means, so these letters and windows were punched out on the molded product and a transparent cover was applied from the back. It is formed by applying a plate. This method also has disadvantages in terms of cost and design.

The present invention was invented in view of the above, and by directly transferring a masking agent to a three-dimensional molded product using a silk screen technique and peeling off the masking part after painting, the molded product can be made transparent or has a background color. This allows letters and windows of the same color to be formed.

To explain the embodiment of the present invention in more detail, first, necessary characters, figures, etc. are printed on a silk screen. All known methods can be used as a silk screen plate-making method, but in particular, a screen is coated with a photosensitive emulsion 1, a positive film with desired characters, figures, etc. is photographed, and then a positive film is polymerized, and after exposure, it is washed with water and By using the so-called photographic technique, in which characters, figures, etc. are cut out and plate-made, typesetting characters can be formed, resulting in a beautiful finish. It goes without saying that the silk screen can be made of nylon or Tetron in the same manner as well as silk. Next, the silk screen is polymerized onto a synthetic resin molded product, and a masking agent that is easily fixed to the synthetic resin, can be easily peeled off by the action of a slight external force, and is not attacked by thinner-based solvents is transferred. . If a synthetic rubber dissolved in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent is used as the masking agent, the aliphatic hydrocarbon will slightly attack the surface of the synthetic resin and fix the synthetic rubber, causing the pattern to shift during painting. There is no risk of being attacked by paint thinner-based solvents (and it has an extremely weak fixing force), so it is easy to peel off. Paint the entire item. After drying, apply 5 pages of adhesive tape to the masked area and peel it off to remove the masking agent and the paint on its surface, forming transparent or ground-colored letters, figures, windows, etc. Ru.

According to the present invention, since a silk screen technique is used as a means for forming masking, it is possible to integrally mask even three-dimensional molded products. Therefore, it is possible to reduce painting costs, and to remove fine characters, figures, etc. Windows etc. can be formed neatly. Furthermore, according to the method of the present invention, characters can be formed as cut-out characters, so if a light source is set on the back side, characters can be displayed with light, creating a new aesthetic appearance for character display on home appliances. It has excellent characteristics. The above description is about painting masking of synthetic resin molded products, but if the masking agent is selected appropriately, the same method can be used to mask the fine details of metal and other materials. It can mask characters, symbols, figures, etc., and has a wide range of applications.
