Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the wear resistance, by providing a lubricative high-hardness region on the surface of a main magnetic pole or an auxiliary magnetic pole, which is brought into contact with a magnetic medium, in a vertically magnetizing recording head. CONSTITUTION:A lubricative high-hardness region B is provided in a part or the whole of a main body part A consisting of a high-hardness ceramic or the like, and its surface part is worked to a plane specular face with high precision, and magnetic materials such as ''Permalloy '' are formed as a magnetizing recording thin film magnetic pole 3 by sputtering or the like, and a similarly formed holding material is assembled and is allowd to adhere to it. The surface to be bought into contact with the recording medium is subjected to the high-precision specular face work to prescribed dimensions and shape. A normal ceramic part 1 and a solid-state lubricative part 2 buried in its particles exist alternately in the lubricative high-hardness region B, and this region B has high lubricativity and wear resistance. Graphite materials are used as materials of the main body part A, and the surface of graphite materials are sintered to a high temperature and is converted to an SiC to improve the hardness and the hardness and the strength, and the graphite simple substance is deposited and left to generate the lubricative high-hardness region B.

Until No. 1, ordinary ceramics such as alumina or glass were used for the holding part of the magnetic thin film magnetic pole of the main magnetic pole head, and the recording medium that came into contact with it was also a so-called knot type, which was a polymer film coated with magnetic powder. However, in perpendicular magnetization recording, according to the purpose of high-density recording,
A hard magnetic recording medium made of a metal magnetic material such as Cr-Co by sputtering or the like is used. Therefore, the load on the head increases, and with conventional materials such as alumina and glass, the amount of wear is large and it is difficult to stabilize the characteristic output, and the increased friction can damage the magnetic recording medium and deteriorate the magnetic properties. This caused major problems in reliability, such as longevity. Furthermore, if a material with extremely high hardness, such as sapphire, is used due to loss of wear resistance, there are disadvantages such as high material cost, difficulty in processing, and extremely high cost.

The present invention solves the above-mentioned conventional drawbacks, and the present invention maintains the original hardness of ceramics and also provides good solid lubricity in @lubricious high hardness regions at least on the surface or all of the magnetic head in contact with the magnetic recording medium. By creating this head, we provide a perpendicular magnetization recording head with good wear resistance, low friction, and no damage to the magnetic recording medium, making it possible to perform highly reliable, stable, high-performance, high-density perpendicular magnetization recording. This is what I did.

In other words, it is the ceramic part that holds the magnetic thin film pole and has a large contact area with the medium that does not affect the abrasion of the nine heads that come into contact with the magnetic recording medium and cause scratches.
By creating a lubricating high-hardness region with high hardness and improved lubrication performance on the surface ceramic part of the main magnetic pole head and auxiliary magnetic pole head for perpendicular magnetization recording, it becomes a perpendicular magnetization head with good wear resistance and can be used with media. The present invention provides a lubricating high-hardness region on the surface of the main pole or auxiliary pole that contacts the magnetic medium in a perpendicular magnetization recording head. By providing this, it is possible to improve wear resistance.
