Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a transfer rate which is stable to the material change of transfer paper, dirtying of a charger, environmental variation, etc., by controlling the amount of transfer charging so that the surface potential of a photoreceptor, etc., after the transfer charging has a prescribed value. CONSTITUTION:The surface potential of a photoreceptor 1 after an image is transferred to transfer paper P after transfer charge is detected by a potential sensor 8. Through a measuring circuit 9, a control circuit 10 whose set values are switches according to the thickness, etc., of the transfer paper P, a holding circuit 11, etc., the amount of transfer charging by a transfer charge 4 is controlled as prescribed. Under the said control, copied image of uniform density are formed at a transfer rate which is stable to the material change of the transfer paper, dirtying of the charger, environmental variation, etc. Further, the same effect is obtained by performing control by detecting the surface potential of the transfer paper.
