Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain always an adequate transfer state and stable transferred images in spite of the change in humidity by controlling an electric power source for transfer voltage which transfers the images on an image supporting body onto a transfer material according to the moisture absorption condition of the transfer material. CONSTITUTION:An image supporting body 1 has a photoconductive layer and an insulation layer on the circumferential surface of a drum and has electrostatic latent images on the circumferential surface thereof. A transfer material 4 contacts the photosensitive surface of the body 1 in a transfer position and transfer voltage is applied between the image supporting body and the material 4 by a transfer electrostatic charger 5. A humidity sensor 6 is provided near the material 4 to detect the moisture adsorption condition of the material 4 by detecting the humidity around the same. The detection signal thereof is inputted via an amplifier 7 to a high voltage power source 8, and the supply voltage from here to the charger 5 is so controlled as to assume always the adequate transfer state.
