Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable efficient utilization of methane gas generated from night soil, by miniaturizing a fermenting tank provided with a heater, an agitating impeller and a gas-compressing means.
CONSTITUTION: Night soil flows from a reserving pipe 3 into a fermenting tank 5. The night soil is heatd by a heater 8 using outer hot water and agitated by an agitating impeller 9, to generate methane gas. When the pressure of the generated methane gas reaches a certain level, a pressure-sensitive switch 18 is operated to rotate a compressor 11, so that the methane gas is compressed and pressurizedly reserved in a methane gas cylinder 12. The night soil in the fermenting tank 5 is kept at a fixed amount by ocassionally opening a water content-discharge valve 23 and a residue-discharge valve 24. If the interior pressure in the tank 5 rises abnormally, the night soil pushes up the water head in an auxiliary tank 2 communicated to the reserving pipe 3 owing to its rising pressure and flows through a passage 20 into a hot water-discharge pipe 19 concurrently acting as a deodorizing pipe, and then the night soil is drained to a sewer system.
