Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform titled removal surely irrespectively of the shapes of Ni-contg. cast steel products having undergone casting, by heating and cooling said cast steel products under specific conditions. CONSTITUTION:An Ni-contg. cast steel product having undergone casting is heated to above 1,050 deg.C, and is held for one hour at that temp. Then, the grain boundary oxidized layer III having been produced in a tortoise-shell pattern within a base IV along the grain boundary of the base IV changes to intergranular oxidized layers such as an external oxidized layer I and a layer II (metallic grains+FeO) below the same. Next, the product is quenched down to below 600 deg.C at >=50 deg.C/H rates, by which it is passed quickly through the temp. region of 600-1,050 deg.C where the grain boundary oxidized layer III is likely to occur and eventually the residue of the oxidized layer III is obviated. Thence, the layers I, II are removed surely irrespectively of the shapes of cast steel products by an ordinary descaling method such as, for example, sand blasting.
