Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable the sequential action of a double-acting three-stage cylinder itself, by providing valves in the cylinder to change over fluid passages at the greatest elongation of the first and the second stage cylinder units.
CONSTITUTION: Valves 22, 23 are provided at the end 7 of a hollow member 5 to control sequential action. The valve 22 is always energized by a spring 24 to disconnect oil chambers 25, 26 from each other but functions also as a check valve which allows the oil flow from the chamber 26 to the other 25 but stops the reverse oil flow. At the extreme end of elongation of a first cylinder unit 4, the end 22a of the valve 22 is engaged with a piston 2 to allow the oil flow from the oil chamber 25 to the other 26. The valve 23 has a check valve mechanism which allows the oil flow from an oil chamber 33 to another 32 but stops the reverse oil flow. At the extreme end of contraction of a second cylinder unit 10, the end 23a of the valve 23 is engaged with the piston 8 of the second cylinder unit to allow the oil flow from the oil chamber 32 to the other 33.
