Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the insulation breakdown of a field coil in a DC electric machine by connecting coils forming the poles of the field coils in series-parallel form. CONSTITUTION:Coils 3a, 3c and 3b, 3d are respectively so connected to a power source that the surface faced with the armature 4 of field cores 2a, 2c becomes N-pole and the surface faced with the armature 4 of field cores 2b, 2d becomes S-pole. The coils 3a-3d are divided into groups G1 and G2 respectively having the coils 3a, 3c and 3b, 3d in such a manner that the coils 3a, 3c and 3b, 3d belonging to the groups G1, G2 are connected in parallel with each other. The groups G1, G2 are connected in series with each other. In this manner, the potential presented across the field coils can be lowered, thereby decreasing the factor of insulation breakdown due to insufficient withstand voltage.
