Abstract

PURPOSE: To eliminate the need for any classification tank, reduce the number of parts susceptible to clogging with a slurry and contrive to reduce the device size by a method wherein a slurry receiving tank is adapted to function also as a classification tank, in circulating device for an abrasive such as iron sand.
CONSTITUTION: The combined slurry-receiving and classification tank 25 is provided in the vicinity of a descaling chamber 13, and a high-concentration slurry is directly returned from a bottom part of the tank 25 into a slurry supply tank 16 fitted with a cyclone 15 by a return pump 27. On the other hand, a low- concentration slurry obtaned as supernatant from the tank 25 is fed under pressure into a cyclone 10, and an abrasive of a predetermined grain size is recovered by classification. Iron sand is blasted toward a strip 14 together with the high-concentration slurry from the tank 16, while being accelerated by high- pressure water 19, to blast-clean the strip 14. The high-concentration slurry and iron sand used in the blast cleaning are recovered into the tank 25 through the chamber 13, and are used circulatedly.
