Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily obtain a mold material suited for casting of high molten alloys which increases the rate of expansion during hardening and heating of the mold by adding ne kind of carboxylic acids, in a specific weight ratio to a phosphate type mold material.
CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of carboxylic acids such as tartaric acid, citric acid, malic acid and succinic acid is added and compounded to and with a phosphate type mole material consisting of phosphate and magnesium oxide as essential binders. At this time, the compounding ratio is set at 0.01W1pt.wt. the carboxylic acids based on 100pts.wt. the mold material. The reasons for specifying the ratio of addition of the carboxylic acids lie in that, if it is far less than the specific ratios, the expansion effect of the mold does not appear, and that if it is too much it is economically disadvantageous and the green strength of the mold is low.
