Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance the bonding strength and save the work process of a water-activated battery by previously providing on a negative magnesium plate, a layer, which is made of a lead-tin alloy added with a metal having a high affinity for oxygen, and affixing a lead body on the former layer through soldering. CONSTITUTION:A lead body 5 is fixed to a negative magnesium plate 4 by means of a solder 9. Here, a layer 6, which is made of a lead-tin alloy previously added with a metal element having a strong affinity for oxygen, is provided on a part of the plate 4, above which the lead body 5 is fixed, before the body 5 is affixed on the layer 6 by use of a lead-tin alloy 9 (solder) which is not added with the former metal element. The layer 6 is preferably affixed on the plate 4 by the direct application of ultrasonic wave vibration. As the former metal element, zinc, antimony, aluminum, titanium or the like is preferred.
