Abstract
PURPOSE:To simulate the damages that the paint film of a vehicle body under low speed running receives from rebounding stone or the like by dropping a tip having a truncated-circular cone shaped leading end onto a paint film test piece supported at its edge parts and disposed diagonally from prescribed height. CONSTITUTION:A test piece 1 applied with similar painting as that of the body of an automobile is supported at edge parts by means of support members 3 on the slope 2a of a cradle 2 and is disposed thereon. Next, the leading end of a tip 5 having the leading end part of a truncated-circular cone shape is matched to the scale 8 of height H and is inserted into a glass tube 6 for guide, after which it is dropped. At the moment when the leading end of the tip 6 collides against the test piece, it rotates on the surface of the test piece 1 and therefore the scratch flaws obtained by this simultate the flaws of the vehicle body running at low speeds by rebounding stone.
