Abstract
An electrically operated control element comprises a base plate 1, a guide plate 2 and a piezo-electric transducer 4 mounted on the base plate and movable relative to the guide plate 2. The base plate 1 and guide plate 2 are connected rigidly by four spacer elements each consisting of a pile of piezo-electric discs. The axes of polarisation of the spacer elements are perpendicular to the axis of polarisation of the transducer 4 so that when all the piezo-electric discs are electrically activated simultaneously the movement of the transducer 4 relative to the guide plate 2 is effectively doubled. <IMAGE>
