Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce the phase distortion throughout a wide band, by providing a frequency converter between the first amplifier and the second amplifier and making the local oscillation frequency of the frequency converter higher than the signal frequency. CONSTITUTION:A frequency converter 32 is connected between the first amplifier 31 and the second amplifier 35 to not only make the frequency of a signal applied to an input terminal IN and the frequency of a signal taken out from an output terminal OUT different from each other but also compensate the phase. The oscillation frequency of a local oscillator 33 is made higher than the frequency of the input signal, and the output signal of the frequency converter 32 is applied to the amplifier 35 through a band-pass filter 34 to obtain a signal having the differential frequency between the local oscillation frequency and the frequency of the input signal. If phase characteristics of amplifiers 31 and 35 are similar to each other, the phase distortion is compensated by selecting the input amplitude ratio of amplifiers 31 and 35.
