Abstract

The T.V. receiver has an extra mixer connected to the input side of the audio i.f. amplifier. The extra mixer is connected to an extra oscillator whose frequency can be changed over. The mixer is fed by the oscillator's output and the t.v. signal from the receive stage. The oscillator's frequencies are chosen to comply with the various standards of t.v. signal. The extra oscillator operates at a frequency equal to the difference between the audio i.f. signal from the receive stage and the pass band frequency of the audio i.f. amplifier. The advantage lies in avoiding the tendency of tunable audio i.f. amplifiers to oscillate and frequency-dependent gain.
