Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a converter of high-accuracy and with easy circuit changes, by arranging a diffusion resistor array, which constitutes a voltage divider or a current divider for a converter, almost at the center of a semiconductor chip. CONSTITUTION:As for a multi-input A/D converter, a D/A converter 10 is arranged at the center A of a semiconductor chip 1. A comparator 20, a subsequent comparating register 30, a control bus 15 for the D/A converter are arranged at the external B. An input multiplexer 50, a decoder thereof 60, a buffer network 40, and the like are arranged at the further external C. As a result, it is easy to cope with timely and effective function changes like increasing or decreasing multiplexer 50 channels without changing the arrangement of basic constitution, and making a time-sharing output divided in several bits for the reduction of pin numbers. At the same time, a diffusion resistor array is arranged within 70% of the distance from the center to the rim of the chip 1, while the thickness of the chip is made four times thicker or 1/4 thinner than a backplate. When it is adhered with an organic adhesive, it will be more effective because of the difficulty in being affected by a bimetallic effect.
