Abstract

CONSTITUTION: The starting rod and seed rod are held horizontally on the holders 8 in the quartz tube 9 and the light from the heating lamps 1 is concentrated with reflectors 2 to melt the starting rod and form the floating zone. At the same time, the starting rod 5 and the seed rod 6 are made to revolve through the holders 8 and supersonic waves are generated from the generator 3 and reflected with the supersonic reflectors 4 to control the change in supersonic pressure to give the floating force to the melted body 7. When the melted state becomes stable, both of the starting rod 5 and seed rod 6 are shifted to the side of the seed rod 6 to effect the melting of the starting rod 5 and the growth of single crystal on the seed rod 6.
