PURPOSE:To eliminate an erasing circuit and a bias circuit by adapting a delta M modulation and demodulation system as a recording and reproduction system for a CUE signal which is recorded on the 2nd track of a recording medium in parallel to the 1st track and then reproduced. CONSTITUTION:On the 1st track of a recording medium, an audio signal is recorded on PCM basis through a PCM recording circuit and on the 2nd track, the same audio signal as that recorded on the 1st track is recorded in parallel to the 1st track by being modulated on delta M basis through a delta M modulating circuit 16. For reproduction, the audio signals recorded on the 1st and 2nd tracks are reproduced separately and during normal sound reproduction, a signal reproduced from the 1st track through a PCM reproducing circuit 7 is used. For a search for the beginning, etc., of a recording position of the recording medium, a signal reproduced from the 2nd track through a CUE reproducing circuit 20 is used as a CUE signal. Consequently, it is unnecessary to erase the recording contents of the medium in advance, eliminating an erasing circuit, etc.
