Abstract

PURPOSE:To stably cast a cast piece whose casting surface is satisfactory, by casting a low carbon white cast iron material horizontally and continuously by use of a mold consisting of a nitride material of water-cooled BN, etc., under a specific working condition. CONSTITUTION:In a horizontal type cntinuous casting machine, continuously casting of white cast iron materials containing 2.0-3.0% C is performed under the following conditions. That is to say, a nitride such as water-cooled BN, etc. is used as a mold material. As for length of the casting mold, overall length, length of a non-cooling part and length of a cooling part are set to 200-400mm., 100-40mm. and 60-300mm., respectively. A casting temperature of a molten metal is set to 1,400 + or -20 deg.C, and a drawing-out speed of a cast piece is set so that a surface temperature of the cast piece can be adjusted to 800-860 deg.C. Also, since the generating position of a solidified shell is within about 30mm. from the end of a water-cooled jacket 1, the drawing-out stroke is set to <=20mm.. Subsequently, as for the drawing-out cycle, drawing and stop are set to 1sec and 10-15sec, respectively, and the cast piece is solidified extending over the whole section so that the solidified shell can stand the drawing-out.
