Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a signal current obtained from a collector electrode from being disturbed by a dark current and to improve S/N, by flowing the dark current flowing in the collector electrode through insulating bushings to a guard electrode arranged around the collector electrode. CONSTITUTION:A filament 2 ionizing a trace of Na by thermal dissociation is arranged in a housing 1 flowing out the gas to be inspected and a collector electrode 3 collecting generated ions is provided appasite to the filament 2. The filament 2 and the electrode 3, are insulated from the housing 1 by insulating bushings 4, 5 to hold them and also, a guard electrode 10 held by a bushing 11 is provided around the electrode 3. Then, the electrode 10 and the electrode 3 are maintained in the same potential without interposing the detection resistance and a dark current at the time of applying collector voltage is flowed to the electrode 10 through the bushings 4 and 11.
