Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the economy and heat resistance of an oxygen sensor by forming a platinum film on the contact portion between the inner and outer electrode layer thereof and the output pickup portion thereof made of refractory steel.
CONSTITUTION: An oxygen sensor 1 and a housing 2 are formed with tapered shoulder and sensor connector engaged with each other. A conductive ring 10 of an output pickup portion where the tapered portions coincide is interposed between the lower surface 1c of the shoulder and the upper surface 2a of the sensor connector. A film of platinum or oxidation resistant metal is formed on the surface of the ring 10 to thus form part of the output pickup portion.
