PURPOSE:To increase the torsional strength of a leaf spring made of fiber- reinforced plastic, by using directional long fibers to make the top and bottom of hollow part of the leaf spring and by making both the sides of the hollow part of a cross-woven fibrous material piled in the direction of the width of the leaf spring. CONSTITUTION:When upward force acts to the center of the bottom of a leaf spring 1 made of fiber-reinforced plastic, compressive force is generated in the lower outer part 1d and tensile stress is generated in the upper outer part 1c. The compressive and tensile stress is absorbed by directional long fibers 3. When torsional force acts to the leaf spring 1, torsional stress is generated therein. The torsional stress is mainly absorbed by the cross-woven fibrous material 4 of the outer parts 1c of both sides.
