Abstract
PURPOSE:To find an accurate particle size and distribution condition in a short time through the simultaneous measurement of a particle speed when the particle size is measured, by a method wherein a laser device is employed in a light source with which the spray particles are irradiated. CONSTITUTION:With a laser source 4 operated through a triggere 8, a very minute part 3 of spray 2 jetted through a jet valve 1 is irradiated in a short time of about 1muS. The particles so irradiated are caught by a TV camera 5, and a particle is analyzed by a picture analyzer 6 to count and record the size of the individual particle. A signal is transmitted to a processor 10 from the analyzer 6, and a command is sent to the trigger 8. Measurement are performed the required number of times through the repetition of light-emitting and measuring, and after the measuring is completed, the analyzer 6 finds a mean particle size and particle distribution through the working of the processor 10 to output the results to a printer 9. If the processor 10 is set into a particle speed measuring mode, a speed is counted from a picture formed through the emitting of light two times, a correction is made on the mean particle size and particle distribution, a correct value is outputted to the printer 9, and an accurate particle size and distribution condition can be found in a short time.
