Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a heat insulation medium which can keep a proper temperature over a long period of time when applied and has no fear of leakage when its container is broken, consisting of a solid paraffin which has been thickened to gel by blending aluminum salts of higher fatty acid.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture consisting of an aluminum salt of an 8W20C straight- chain higher fatty acid such as aluminum n-caprylate and that of an 8W20C branched chain higher fatty acid such as aluminum 2-ethylcaproate in a weight ratio of 1:9W8:2, is used. 1W20pts.wt. said mixture is mixed with and dispersed in 100pts.wt. solid paraffin having a m.p. of 40W70°C at 60W150°C to thicken and cause to gel the resulting mixture, whereby the desired solid paraffin is obtd.
