Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent a tape from deforming partially owing to head contact, by not ching tape guides, positioned at both sides of a head moving direction, corresponding to both side parts of a head. CONSTITUTION:A gap 33 is set enabling a recording and reproducing head 21 to move in the width direction of a tape 11, and a couple of tape guides 32a and 32b are set. The parts of the tape guides 32a and 32b which correspond the gap 33 are cut off from curved guide surfaces to form notch surfaces 34a and 34b. Consequently, a running tape 11 is run corresponding to curved guide surfaces assumed by contact surfaces 35a and 35b with reference to the rigidity and running speed of the tape 11, and consequently the tape runs securely in contact with a head 21 projected corresponding to the guide surfaces.
