Abstract

PURPOSE: To bond iron-containing sintered parts at low cost with an reduced amount of infiltrating agent, by combining an inside part comprising a powder compression-molded form with an outside part formed from a powder mold or a sintered body treated with steam and then by infiltration-treating them.
CONSTITUTION: Several kinds of iron-containing powder that contains prescribed components are mixed, and the resulting mixed powder is pressed to prepare an outside part 1 that is a powder molded-form. Subsequently, the part 1 is steam- treated to form iron oxides in pores all over the part 1 and to impart strong air- tightness to it. On the other hand, iron-containing powder having the same components as those of the part 1 is pressed to form an inside part 4 that is a powder-molded form. Next, after fitting the part 4 into the circular recessed part 2 of the part 1, the parts 1 and 4 that are combined with each other are infiltration-treated to be bonded into a unitary body. A copper-containing infiltrate e.g. Cu-Fe-Mn-C-containing infiltrate is used as an infiltrate 6 for the infiltration- treatment.
