Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve corrosion resistance by interposing a corrosion-resisting alloy layer between a magnetic metallic layer and a nonmagnetic metallic layer. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium is formed by providing a corrosion-resisting alloy layer 9, containing chromium, copper, etc., in a magnetic metallic layer 7, in a nonmagnetic metallic layer 8 or on both sides of the magnetic metallic layer 7. For this purpose, a magnetic metal is vacuum-deposited on a substrate and then a magnetic metal and chromium are vacuum-deposited at the same time; and chromium and copper are vacuum-deposited at the same time, and then copper is vacuum-deposited. In this case, the process mentioned above is carried out at least once.
