Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a carrier low in critical surface tension, superior in abrasion resistance, and capable of allowing a fine toner powder almost not to attach to the surface of the carrier, by coating its core material with a mixture of a fluoropolymer and a polyphenylene sulfide resin. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous dispersion of a resin mixture of polytetrafluoroethylene and polyphenylene sulfide is diluted with distilled water to make a 10-15% coating dispersion, which is coated on a carrier core material, such as iron powder or glass balls by air spraying it in a circulated fluidized bed in a ratio of 150-200cc per 1kg of the core material, and calcinating at about 330 deg.C for 15min in a hot air dryer to give a coated carrier. This carrier is superior in abrasion resistance and fluidity, and does not cause exposure of the core material and occurrence of resin powder, and permits an amount of toner to be made very little.
