Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable the best control over the temperature and humidity of a photoreceptor without reference to environmental variations by controlling AC electric power for heating the photoreceptor through two temperature detecting elements arranged adjacent each other on the surface of the photoreceptor. CONSTITUTION:The surface temperature of a photosensitive drum 7 is detected by temperature detecting elements 15 and 16 which are arranged adjacent each other on the photosensitive drum 7 and have operation points at 30 and 40 deg.C by utilizing temperature variations in inductance at the Curie point. Then, SCRs 20 and 21 are turned off through the elements 15 and 16 above the operation points to perform the full-wave application, half-wave application or interception of an AC current applied to a heater 4, thus controlling AC electric power for heating. Under control which responds to the detection result of the surface temperature of the drum 7, the difference between the temperature of the drum and the ambient temperature is controlled as prescribed to exercise the best control over the temperature of the photoreceptor and the humidity so that moisture absorption is prevented.
