Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the titled polymer having a relatively high vinyl bond content and the same Mooney viscosity, by polymerizing a conjugated diene compound in a hydrocarbon solvent in the presence of a specified compound, an allene compound and an organolithium catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A conjugated diene compound or a monomer mixture thereof with not more than 50wt% vinylaromatic compound is (co)polymerized at 25W 180°C for 5minW5hr in a hydrocarbon solvent, e.g., n-butane, in an inert gas atmosphere in the presence of (A) 0.1W2mmol (as Li) per 100g monomer, organolithium catalyst, e.g., ethyllithium, (B) 0.3W20mol (per mol of component A) of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of an ethylene glycol dialkyl ether, e.g., ethylene glycol dibutyl ether, and a tert. amine, e.g., N,N,N', N'-tetramethylethylenediamine and (C) 0.1W0.9mol (per mol of component A) of an allene compound of the formula, wherein R is H or a 1W10C alkyl.
