Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the adhesion of a photographic sensitive material to other surface and to provide abrasion resistance by forming a nonsensitive layer contg. a high molecular compound having >=20wt% specified repeating units and insoluble in water or a developer on the surface of the sensitive material. CONSTITUTION:A nonsensitive layer contg. a high molecular compound insoluble in water or a developer prepared by homo- or copolymerizing vinyl ester of fatty acid represented by the formula (where R is 12-24C straight chain alkyl) is formed on the surface of the support of a sensitive material and/or the surface of a sensitive layer. The surface of the support such as a polyester film is coated with an under coat layer contg. a hydrophobic polymer and an antistatic agent, and on the layer said nonsensitive layer is formed, or a layer contg. an antistatic agent and said high molecular compound is formed directly. A layer contg. said high molecular compound may be further formed on the uppermost sensitive layer. Thus, a sensitive material is obtd. which is not adhered even if superposed, undergoes no damage during handling and exerts no unfavorable influence on other photographic characteristics.
