PURPOSE:To obtain an optical switch operate at a high speed, by applying an electric field to a crossed position of plural transmission lines, varying a refractive index of a crystal, and causing a total reflection, in an optical transmission line consisting of an optical crystal substrate. CONSTITUTION:Mg is diffused on an optical crystal substrate 1 such as lithium niobate (LiNbO3), except areas A1, A2, B1 and B2, polishing, coating 2, etc. are executed to one side so as to make it a total reflection surface, and said areas are used as an optical transmission line.
