Abstract
PURPOSE:To conduct measurement of a distance between a repeating point and a reflecting point, by transmitting simulated noise series and the delay signal from a transmission terminal by time-division multiplex, changing delay amount, and correlating a time-division multiplex signal with a reflected wave in a repeater. CONSTITUTION:In order to measure a reflection from a fault 28 in a terminal station 11, a signal generator 11 is connected with a transmission passage signal input terminal 18, and a measurement signal is sent out to a signal transmitting cable 31 of a transmission passage 21. The signal is amplified in a repeater 4 and sent out through a coupler 22. A reflected signal from the fault 28 is extracted by the coupler 22 of a reciprocal receiving unit 21 in the repeater 4 and multiplied by an output of a repeating amplifier 19 by a multiplier 23, and by conducting time integration of integral-number-times period of simulated noise series by an integrator 24, the output is put into a corelative operation.A correlative output is sent out to an output terminal 25 through a fault information transmitting cable 5 and indicated on an indicator 26. It is possible, by using said reflection characteristic, to detect the faulty point 28 which is beyond the repeating point.
