Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent creation of vibration and noise of a radial engine by connecting a pressure balancer to each cylinder to maintain the maximum or the minimum of cycle working pressures approximately uniform in each cylinder in case of deterioraon in sealing of a piston of the engine. CONSTITUTION:In a multi-cylinder radial cycle engine, if a seal member 4a of one piston 2a, for example is deteriorated to cause a leakage of a working gas from an expansion space 5a into a compression space 6a, cycle pressures in a working space which consists of the compression space 6a, a cooler 9a, a heat accumulator 8a, a heater 7a and an expansion space 5b rises higher than those in each three of working spaces. Simultaneously, the highest cycle pressure in a duct 20a is increased over that in each duct 20b-20d so that slidable members 32a, 32b inside a pressure balancer 30 are pushed to open release ports 35a, 35b. A working gas in the duct 20a, released therethrough, is sent through an auxiliary duct 21 and a supply duct 14 and supplied via a check valve 11d into the working space.
