Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A high-pressure turbine comprises a lower and an upper havles 1, 2 of a high-pressure turbine casing. Steam having finished work flows into the lower half 1. Packing heads 6, 7 having a labyrinth packing 5 is provided to keep the steam from going out of the lower half 1. An opening β is provided on the horizontal coupling surfaces of the lower and the upper halves 1, 2 of the turbine casing so that the opening is located between the end face of the high-pressure turbine casing and the effective range of action of tightening force of a bolt 13. A partition plate 22 is mounted on the packing head 6 to define a vent chamber 23 to prevent vented steam portions 11, 12 from escaping through the opening β. Steam collected into the vent chamber 23 is conducted out as the vented steam portion 11 through a lead pipe 22a.
