Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare the lead of color pencil having excellent lubricity and high flexural strength, and suitable for color pencil lead, lead of a mechanical pencil, etc., by filling an ink in the pores of a porous sintered material having a skeleton consisting of a compound composed of boron and nitrogen.
CONSTITUTION: A composition of boron and/or a boron compound (e.g. a boron oxide such as boric acid) mixed with e.g. a hardness regulating agent (e.g. silica), kneading assistant, etc. is extruded in the form of a thin thread, and calcined in an atmosphere of gas containing nitrogen or containing nitrogen and hydrogen (e.g. ammonia), pref. at ≥500°C to obtain a porous sintered material. The objective color pencil lead is obtained by immersing the material in an ink (e.g. stamp ink, etc.) to fill the pores of the material with the ink.
EFFECT: A pencil lead having desired color can be obtained by selecting the color of the ink. An intermediate color tone is also attainable by adjusting the color tone of the porous sintered material used as the raw material of the pencil lead.
