Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance durability of an electrophotographic receptor, by providing a layer of a vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile copolymer as an under coat layer on the ends of a substrate in order to increase adhesion between an insulating layer and the substrate. CONSTITUTION:An inorganic photoconductor, such as an alloy of an intermetallic compound of S, Se, or PbO is vacuum deposited on a substrate 1 excluding its ends to form a photoconductive layer 2, and on this layer an insulating layer 3 consisting of polyethylene, polyester, polystyrene, or the like is formed. Moreover, on the ends of the substrate 1 an undercoat layer 4 made of a vinylidene chloride-acrylonitrile copolymer is formed to form an electrophotographic receptor. As the substrate a metallic plate made of stainless steel or the like, paper , sheet, resin film, etc. can be used. The thickness of the photoconductive layer 2 is usually 5-100mum, that of the insulating layer 3 is generally 0.1-100mum, and that of the undercoat layer 4 is 0.2-10mu, in general.
