Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the accumulation of carbon on the exhaust valve surface by providing an air introduction passage with its one end opening to the surface of the exhaust valve and the other end opening to atmosphere and providing thereto a check valve which permits the flow of air only in one direction. CONSTITUTION:In a 2-cycle engine having an exhaust valve 24 with adjustable timing for the exhaust from an exhaust port 23, an air introduction passage 28 with its one end opening to the surface of the exhaust valve 24 and the other end opening to atmosphere is provided, and a check valve 29 permitting the flow of air into the exhaust valve but preventing the flow of the exhaust from the exhaust valve is provided on said passage 28. When a piston 3 lowers during the running of the engine atmosphere is introduced into the exhaust valve 24 due to the negative pressure created near the exhaust port 23 immediately after the exhaust port 23 opens thereby blowing off the lubricant composition which adheres to the exhaust valve and causes the accmulation of carbon.
