Abstract

PURPOSE: To automatically supply and position the work with small datum hole diameter with good result by a method wherein the work with datum hole for positioning at machining in hobbing machine or the like can be made automatically supply to the positioning shaft of a work holding part.
CONSTITUTION: The disc shape works W with a circular hole at the center are held being piled up by a guide shaft 17 to be inserted in the positioning datum hole and stoppers 18 and transferred from the work receiving position to a work holding shaft 2 by means of a transpart arm 7. At the work supplying position, the guide shaft 7 is positioned so that its axis line coincides with that of the positioning shaft 4 of the work holding shaft 2 and the works W are pushed out by an air piston 12, sliding on the guide shaft 7, to be inserted in the positioning shaft 4. After the retreat of the transport arm 7 from the work supplying position, a work holding shaft 3 is slided axially to hold the work W for the predetermined machining. In such a manner as mentioned above, even when the positioning accuracy of the transport arm 7 to the positioning shaft 4 is not high, the work can be smoothly inserted in the positioning shaft 4 without being applied excessive force thereto.
