Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to do machining at the end face besides lathing in such a way that a clamping device is put on the table which can make an indexing revolution in which the rotary shaft center is orthogonally crossed with the main shaft axial line of a work between the main shaft stand and a head stock.
CONSTITUTION: A work (A) is held by a chuck 15 of the main shaft stand 13 which has a main shaft indexing device and a head stock 17, and lathing is done by a tool B which is selectively inserted into a tool main shaft 9 of the main shaft head 6 by a tool replacer 10. Then, the work (A) is put in the condition of keeping the chuck 15 held, and the work (A) is fixed on a table 18 in free command of indexing revolution which is installed between the main shaft stand 13 and the head stock 17. After that, the chuck 15 is released, direction of the work is changed by revolving the table 18, and the end face of the work is machined by a drill, etc. inserted into the tool main shaft 9 by the tool replacer 10. Thus, lathing and machining at the end face can be done by just one machine.
