Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a tool supply magazine to be placed at a low place where the tool in said magazine can be checked easily after set apart the machining position of machine body by employing first and second tool replacing device and a tool carriage device in combination. CONSTITUTION:The elements of this system is attached on the upper portion and side faces of the column of a horizontal spindle type machine tool. The spindle head 14 moving in direction Y on the side face of a column 13 has a horizontal tool spindle 16. The rotation duration of a spinder arm 19 is shorter than that the known ones of the kind. Said spindle head 14 rises in direction Y while locating the nose key of said spindle 16 circumferentially in accordance with the instruction for tool replacement after the completion of machining, and stops. The tool carriage device 58 positioning between an arm 19 and a double arm 23 is positioned at a proper place for transferring tools. Thus, a tool magazine 60 can be positioned at a low place where the tools therein can be checked easily.
