Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce friction resistance of a surface a molded rubber material without accompanying side-reaction such as crosslinking reaction or the like by a method wherein said molded rubber material is preliminarily swollen in a solvent and, thereafter, held in a fluorine gas atomosphere.
CONSTITUTION: A molded rubber, a synthetic rubber or the like is immersed in a solvent (e.g.; acetone, dichloromethane or the like), pref., at 10W50°C to be preliminarily swollen and, subsequently, held in a fluorine gas atmosphere (a fluorine gas, pref. diluted with an inert gas such as a nitrogen gas or the like, for example, to 1/3 concn.), pref., in a circulated fluorine gas stream at 20W 100°C. Thereafter, the treated molded rubber material is successively washed by an aqueous sodium carbonate solution and water to wash off the fluorine gas adhered to a surface thereof.
