Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a corrosion inhibitor readily soluble in water and exerting no secondary harmful influence by mixing a satd. aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having a specified carbon number with a polyamidoamine. CONSTITUTION:The satd. aliphatic dicarboxylic acid is a 6-12C dicarboxylic acid such as adipic acid, pimelic acid, suberic acid, azelaic acid, sebacic acid, undecanoic acid or dodecanoic acid. The polyamidoamine is generally obtd. by the condensation of a polymerized fatty acid with a diamine. For example, a dimer acid which is the dimer of a fatty acid such as soybean oil, tung oil or tall oil is reacted with an alkylpolyamine such as ethylenediamine, diethylenetriamine or triethylenetetramine, and the resulting polyamidoamine has active amino groups. This corrosion inhibitor shows a superior corrosion inhibiting effet on both iron and copper over a long term, and by combining the inhibitor with other known additive, the effect is enhanced furthermore.
