Abstract
PURPOSE:To execute thermal magnetic recording, and permanent recording by which a recording medium has been deformed physically, by use of one laser light source, by executing the laser irradiation to the thermal magnetic medium, in a low level or a high level. CONSTITUTION:A laser beam 1a emitted from a laser light source 1 is modulated to three stage levels such as high, middle and low by an A/O modulator 2, and its laser beam 1b is irradiated to a thermal magnetic recording medium 4 through a lens system 3. That is to say, the surface of the recording medium 4 is punched and recorded by the beam 1b of a high level, also a magnetic field H is generated by a magnet 5, and when the thermal magnetic recording is executed, the direction of magnetization of the recording medium 4 which has been magnetized uniformly is reversed by the beam 1b of a middle level, and magnetization which is not reversed is executed by the beam 1b of a low level. In this way, thermal magnetic recording and permanent recording are selectively executed by one laser light source, and also three recording systems are selected.
