Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the reading of information with high accuracy, by installing a Faraday rotator between a light source and a photomagnetic recording medium to prevent the return of the harmful reflected light to the light source and accordingly stabilizing the reading light source. CONSTITUTION:The beam sent from a laser beam source 1 is made incident to a Faraday rotator 12 after turned into a linear polarized light via a collimator lens 2 and a polarizer 3 to be turned by 45 deg.. This linear polarized light is furthermore irradiated in the form of a spot to a photomagnetic recording medium 7 via a mirror 4, a half mirror 5 and an objective lens 6. Thus the information is read. On the other hand, the light reflected by the medium 7 and passed through the mirror 5 is turned by another 45 deg. by the rotator 12 and accordingly cut off by the polarizer 3. As a result, no harmful light returns to the beam source 1 to always ensure the assured reading of information.
