Abstract

PURPOSE:To measure various oxygen concns. with good accuracy by forming porous inorg. coating layers of different gas permeabilities on the electrode layers provided on both surfaces of the solid electrolyte of a threshold electric current type oxygen sensor. CONSTITUTION:Metallic electrodes 2a, 2b are provided by a sputtering method on both surfaces of an oxygen ion permeable discoid solid electrolyte body 1. Lead wires 6, 6 for the purpose of voltage application and output detection are connected onto the electrodes 2a, 2b. A porous inorg. coating layer 3 for controlling oxygen inflow is provided thickly or densely on the surface of the electrode (cathode) 2a on the oxygen inflow side and porous inorg. coating layer 4 for electrode protection is provided thinly or coarsely on the surface of the electrode (anode) 2b on the oxygen outflow side. Catalyst noble metal 5 is deposited on the surfaces of the layers 3, 4, whereby the oxygen sensor is obtained.
